Introduction
Metrix version 1.4 has a several major enhancements and new features.
The Contacts Directory
The Contacts Directory form replaces the Directory form from version 1.3 and has been redesigned to serve as a quick and easy way to effectively access your contacts' information.
Using it, you can get a birds-eye view of all of the contacts in the database or view just certain contacts who are part of saved filters and easily access their records with one click.
See About the Contacts Directory Form for more information.
Exporting Filters to Excel
It's now possible to export the results of filters via the Contacts Directory form to Excel to further analyze it. The view (query) that is exported is set by the Metrix Administrator. See Setting Up System Settings.
Module Strategy
Metrix 1.4 introduces support for modules. A module is a discrete set of application objects, database objects, and data that address a particular functional need, e.g. tracking volunteers.
Modules can be relatively simple, made up of any combination of the following: custom forms, custom filters, custom tables, custom queries, custom reports, and custom interaction definitions. They can be also be complex, made up of many custom forms, custom filters, custom tables, custom queries, custom reports, and custom interaction definitions.
Metrix 1.4 enables you or developers to apply a unique module ID to nearly all of your database objects. This enables you to manage these objects as a whole. For instance, when creating filters or when creating or editing Interaction Definitions, you can assign the same module ID to these objects. You can them manage the objects and keep them distinct from other modules. Soon, you will be able to share your modules with other organizations who use Metrix.
A module name distinctly identifies user-created content from content that is packaged with the Metrix when it's first installed.
Why the Module Strategy is Important to You
We are looking to build an online repository where modules can be uploaded and downloaded by members of the Metrix community. This online tool will be open for Metrix users that have created modules that address specific needs, like tracking volunteers, youth services, case management, etc. These modules can be uploaded to the website and downloaded and combined with your Metrix build to expand its functionality and, ultimately, its ability to help you work more effectively.
Bug fixes
Metrix 1.4 improves stability and performance. It also addresses numerous bugs we discovered in previous versions, a list of which will be posted on this wiki soon.
