Upgrading the Metrix Server

The following is a brief overview of the installation process for upgrading Metrix Server from an earlier version of the Metrix Server.
For a step-by-step walk through, see Step-By-Step Installation Instructions for Metrix Server Upgrade.
About Upgrading Before upgrading from a previous version, be sure that Office 2003 is installed on the computer. Earlier versions of Metrix could run on Office 2002. Office 2003 is a system requirement for upgrading to the latest version of Metrix. See Metrix Hardware and Software Requirements for more information.
Upgrade the server first You have to upgrade the Metrix Server before you can upgrade the Metrix Client. After upgrading the Metrix Client, you have to establish a connection to the Metrix database and reference the shared library files, all of which are installed by the Metrix Server installer. You can't do so if they don't exist on your computer or on a server, i.e., if you haven't first installed the server.
Downloading and Launching the Server Upgrader Installer
- Download the Server Upgrader installer from http://metrix.fcny.org/
.
You have to sign up for an account (if you don't already have one).
- Launch the installer and complete the installation wizard.
The installation wizard for the Server Upgrader will move custom objects, i.e., custom forms and custom reports, from the previous versions of the shared library files, interactsql.adp and reportsql.adp, to the new version of the shared library files, also with the same names. It then replaces the old files with the new files.
- Launch the configuration wizard.
The configuration wizard will set the connection from the shared library files to the database. For more information about the shared library files connecting to the Metrix database, see Metrix Architecture Explained.
Entering a password You'll have to enter a password to configure the files. The default installation password for the sa user account is admin.
